Municipal government

The city is led by a mayor and five city councilmen
. It operates the Rainsville police, fire, wastewater and public works departments, as well as the Rainsville Public Library, the Tom Bevill Enrichment Center, the city park and pool, and the sports Complex.

The Rainsville City Park is over three acres in size, and features a public swimming pool, two lighted tennis courts, walking track, lighted basketball court, volleyball court, outdoor stage, picnic tables, and playground. It is located in the heart of town behind city hall.

The city manages youth ball parks, including the Rainsville Sports Complex which is home to Dixie Youth boys baseball, the girls youth softball teams, t-ball, and youth soccer leagues. The Plainview varsity girls softball team plays their home games there, as well. Bethune Softball Park is home of adult softball leagues and tournaments. It includes two softball fields.

City government also operates municipal court, two industrial parks and much more.

Area residents may purchase their Alabama auto license plates and pay their property taxes at the annex in Rainsville. DeKalb Countians may also buy DRIVER'S LICENSES, hunting licenses, business licenses and boat licenses at the convenient branch office. The annex is located in the rear of the Rainsville Police Department in the center of town.

Directions:
From Sylvania - Ala Hwy 75 South, turn right 180 feet past red light between the police station and city hall.
From Fyffe
- Ala Hwy 75 North, turn left before red light between the police station and city hall.
From Powell - Ala Hwy 35 East, turn right just before red light at the Sand Mountain Real Estate office; go straight about 150 feet, annex is on the left.
From Fort Payne - Ala Hwy 35 West, turn left at red light towards Fyffe; turn right 180 feet past red light between the police station and city hall.

Located on McCurdy Avenue (Alabama Hwy 75) South, city hall is home to the mayor's office, the city clerk, the court clerk, and the revenue clerk. The city council meets there on the first and thrid Mondays of each month.

The V.T. Goggans Fire Station No. 1 is home to the Rainsville fire department. Located on Circle Drive, the facility was completed in May of 1997.

Public Works Department
The public works garage is located behind city hall adjacent to the city pool and tennis courts. The department maintains city facilities, streets and equipment, and carries out the daily operation of the city's garbage service.

These rates do NOT include clean up; all renters are responsible for cleaning immediately following their event.

The Enrichment Center is one of the most utilized facilities in the area. Its adaptable configuration make it an ideal setting for a wide array of events such as family reunions, benefit singings, rallies, and high school proms. The TBEC features and auditorium, two smaller meeting rooms and a kitchen. It is located adjacent to the Rainsville city park.
