We are still seeking nominations for
the 2012 Rainsville Person of the Year award

Do you know a person who deserves to be recognized for his or her outstanding citizenship? — Perhaps a business person, a teacher, a coach, a minister, a volunteer disaster relief worker, or an elected official.

The previous Persons of the Year were Jimmy Sparks (1990), Dave Downer (1991), Dorsey Walker (1992), Dr. John Anderson (1993), Wayne Gilbert (1994), Peggy Benefield (1995), Craig White (1996), David Martin (1997), Bob Gray (1998), Billy Poe (1999), Noland Ford (2000), Roy Sanderson (2001), Keary Chandler (2002), Lila Mae Tommie (2003), Carey Baker (2004), Larry Traylor (2005), Byron Shipp (2006), David Holt (2007), Ronald Bell (2008), Wendell Elliott (2009), Dorothy Bowman (2010), and Bryan Thomas (2011).

2012 Person of the Year nominations should be sent by December 13 in the form of a letter to the Chamber board of directors at PO Box 396, Rainsville, or by email to timeberhart@farmerstel.com. Or they may be dropped off at the Chamber office. The winner will be honored at the Chamber's annual meeting on January 19.

Nominees needed for Chamber of Commerce board

We are seeking nominations for the Rainsville Chamber board. Six persons must be chosen by the members to serve three-year terms on the 18-member board, and we need to hold the election as soon as possible. The volunteer board is responsible for steering the organization and carrying out its various programs, events and activities. Each board member attends a monthly meeting and serves on a couple of committees.
