Six Chamber events coming up 

3rd annual Sand Mountain Dessert Bake Off and 50th annual Christmas Parade among them

The Chamber will sponsor or co-sponsor six events later this fall:
November 20-21 at participating merchants

Holiday Open House

Visit Rainsville’s Christmas merchants for refreshments, door prizes, and to check out the holiday gift selections.
November 21 at the TBEC -- three events

Sand Mountain Dessert Bake-Off

Here's a flyer for you bulletin boards.
Enter a cake, pie, or other dessert in the contest. There will be a $100 cash prize (minimum) for first place in each of the three categories. The first 30 people to enter the baking contest will receive a Rainsville t-shirt. Auction

4 - 5:30 PM: silent auction bidding
6 PM: live auction
Over 100 items including toys, electronics, home decor, and gift baskets will be sold to the highest bidder.

Chili supper

5 - 6 PM
$5 per person. Includes Chili, soup, and drink plus you may sample the desserts from the baking contest!
December 5 on Main Street

50th ANNUAL Rainsville Christmas Parade

Fifty is a big number, so mark your calendar and don’t miss this celebration of the season. Why not enter a float, your classic car, or your horse and wagon? Commercial entries are free for Chamber members. Details and entry forms are available at the Rainsville Chamber office and at rainsvillealabama.com/events.html.

Merchant Christmas decor contest

Call or email to let us know if you have decorated your office or store by the day of the parade so we will know where to send the judges. There will be a $100 prize for the winner. Details are still being worked out for this new activity.

2010 Rainsville Person of the Year

Nominations may be made between now and the 11th of December for 2010 Rainsville Person of the Year. Wendell Elliott is the 2009 Rainsville Person of the Year. The previous 19 Persons of the Year were Jimmy Sparks (1990), Dave Downer (1991), Dorsey Walker (1992), Dr. John Anderson (1993), Wayne Gilbert (1994), Peggy Benefield (1995), Craig White (1996), David Martin (1997), Bob Gray (1998), Billy Poe (1999), Noland Ford (2000), Roy Sanderson (2001), Keary Chandler (2002), Lila Mae Tommie (2003), Carey Baker (2004), Larry Traylor (2005), Byron Shipp (2006), David Holt (2007), and Ronald Bell (2008). 

Nominations should be submitted in the form of a letter to the Rainsville Chamber. The Chamber board will make the selection for 2010 Person of the Year before the annual meeting in January. The deadline for submitting nominations will be Friday, December 11, 2009.

Nominations needed for Chamber board election

Members may submit nominations for the Chamber board of directors election which will be held in December. Six individuals will be elected to three-year terms on the 18-person volunteer board.

You may nominate yourself, or any employee at any member business. Each nominee will be contacted to verify their willingness to serve if elected.

Don’t miss these events at NACC

Music on the Mountain Bluegrass Festival   --  October 17, 2009  --   at NACC
1:00 - 10:00 PM. Featured entertainer will be Marty Raybon, former lead singer for Shenandoah. Also performing will be Valley Road, Eric McKinney Band, Backwoods Revival, and Kelli Johnson & Chimney Peak. Tickets are $15 to the general public. Tickets for NACC students are $5. Mustang 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run   --  October 31, 2009  --   at NACC
8:00 AM. Race day registration will be at the NACC Student Center from 7:15 to 7:45 A.M. NACC Theatre presents Death of a Salesman   --  November 13-15, 20-22
