North Alabama Hunting Fishing & Country Classic - Oct 1-2

North Alabama Hunting, Fishing & Country Classic

Saturday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.. At the Northeast Alabama Agri-Business Center in Rainsville (map). Enjoy browsing outdoor gear and taxidermy displays, meet celebrity guests, and much more. Jase Robertson of Duck Dynasty will be on hand on October 1. Admission is $7, children age 12 and under free; the first 100 adults to come through the door each day admitted free. Follow the event on Facebook.

2nd Annual DeKalb County AFAPA Run/Walk 5K
9 a.m. with registration starting at 8 a.m. At the walking trail on the NACC campus. Registration fees will be $20 for an individual, $35 for a couple, and $15 each in groups of 10 or more. Children under 12 are free and the first 300 to pay for their registration will receive a t-shirt. There will be door prizes and vendors plus free face painting, games and inflatables for the children. A silent auction begins Monday, October 3, and ends Saturday at the 5K. Details.

Rainsville First Baptist Fall Festival 5K and one-mile fun run
8 a.m. with registration starting at 7 a.m. in the church fellowship hall. Registration fees will be $30 for the 5K and $20 for the one-mile event. Proceeds will benefit and support the Rainsville First Baptist Church Missions for the Alabama Children's Ministry. Details.

7:30 a.m. at NACC. State Senator Steve Livingston and Representatives Nathaniel Ledbetter, Tommy Hanes and others will recap the 2016 legislative session. The breakfast meeting will be co-hosted by the Jackson County, Fort Payne and Rainsville Chambers of Commerce. RSVP is required -- contact the chamber serving your area.

Christmas at the Crossroads featuring the 57th Annual Rainsville Christmas Parade and Santa Dash

The Santa Dash one-mile fun run/walk will precede the parade at 4 p.m. Parade lineup will start at 3 p.m. Enjoy the after-parade concert featuring Victoria Griffith and her live band, and other activities at the Tom Bevill Enrichment Center. Preregister for the Santa Dash here. Santa Dash proceeds will go to Backpacks of Blessings which is providing hope to the children of DeKalb County through nutrition.
